Perceptle Track practice

Track shows a ball on a curve for about two seconds, then hides it. You click the ground line. The field is 800 units wide and the ground sits at y = 450. Normal puzzles are generated so the landing falls between x = 450 and x = 760. Friday uses weaker gravity, at least one wall bounce, a longer 2,600 ms look, and a landing between 80 and 720.

On #97 I clicked x = 491.81 and the HUD read “0 px from the landing spot.” That point is 61.48% of the 800-wide field, and about 62.4% of the visible ground from 30 to 770. The miss I usually make is clicking the last place I saw the ball, which is still in the air. Ten units off scores about 99, thirty about 88, and sixty — one σ — about 61.

The arc here is a schematic with a known landing. It is not a recording of a daily puzzle’s flight.

Track asks where a hidden ball will land. The arc is a schematic, not a recorded flight.

Does Track score vertical error?

The public formula uses horizontal distance from the landing on the ground line. Click the line, not a point in the air.

Why did the ball vanish early?

That is the test. Normal hide time is 2,000 ms. You are supposed to predict, not watch the impact.
